Welcome New Kiwi Writers
Welcome to the 120 new Kiwi Writer members who have signed up in May. A big thank you to all of our members, new and old, who have gotten behind the second annual Southern Cross Novel Challenge.
May saw the activity on Kiwi Writers soar with over 2,000 visitors and 120 new members. The fuvour around the second annual Southern Cross Novel Challenge has been great with 96 participants signed up, well above the 60 who participated last year. We're perfectly on track to collectively write over 1 million words. In the first week of SoCNoC we're going to have a collective SoCNoC word counter to urge us all on.
The SoCNoC 7 Day Preparation Challenge was joined by 21 SoCNoC participants. With one day still to go 4 participants have won the challenge. The 7 Day Prep challenge will stay in the challenge archives and be a useful resource, along with other preparation challenges from novel challenges in the past, for writers whenever they are needing inspiration on something new or something they may be stalled on.
We are mere hours away from the beginning of SoCNoC 2008. It will start with a bang at midnight June 1st New Zealand standard time with an online kick off party in the Kiwi Writers chatroom. There will be a second online kick off, hosted by xengab, across the US timezones in an attempt to cover all of our SoCNoC participants. SoCNoC this year will be as social as ever. The chatroom will be open 24/7 for all Kiwi Writer members to chat. You can cheer along SoCNoC participants, host word wars and talk about the ups and downs of writing 50,000 words in 30 days.
A new member challenge has been posted for the second half of 2008. The Rejection Collection Challenge challenges participants to collect 25 rejections between 1 July and 31 December. This is a great way to begin submitting your work and getting over the nerves of sending your babies away. The Rejection Collection Challenge is focused towards short stories and short fiction, but if novels are your medium the Publish a Book Challenge is a great alternative, challenging participants to submit a novel for publication by the end of 2008.
If you know someone who might be interested in Kiwi Writers send this snippet of action to them or point them in our direction so they can...
