Thank The Stars It's Over
And thank you all for making the very first Southern Cross Novel Challenge a great success!
Our 60th participant signed up at the beginning of week four and wrote over 25,000 words. Well done, jem! Our 16th winner crossed the finish line a hair’s breadth before midnight on 30th June. Well done, tias42! Thanks to all of you SoCNoC 2007 had a 26% success rate and 60% of the participants who logged their word counts clocked an amazing 995,728 words!
Being a part of the Southern Cross Novel Challenge, whether you are a winner or not, you have the opportunity to learn a lot about yourself, your writing and the way you write. Forcing yourself to write so much in such a short space of time makes any problems or successes more apparant and forces you to solve the problems quickly. This is why the quantity comes before quality. If you get stuck on the words and the story you lessen the opportunity for learning.
At Kiwi Writers head quarters we are already looking towards SoCNoC 2008 and the many fun new things that will be coming to Kiwi Writers as soon as this month! The top three things on our up and coming list are:
- Choose your time zone and participate in challenges according to your local time
- Add excerpts of your writing to your profile and choose to share it with the world wide web, Kiwi Writers member or your friends on Kiwi Writers
- Challenge other members to challenges you have set for yourself complete with participant icons, word count logging and winners icons
You can read more about what’s coming up on Kiwi Writers in But Wait, There’s More.
I hope everyone will take a well deserved rest because Kiwi Writers doesn’t wait a year to have this much fun again. Watch out for a weekend challenge in July and a month long event in August. We’ll see you there!
Congratulations to our winners:
