SoCNoC - Week Four
Congratulations to maggenpye, morel & august who have already written 50,000 words this month. There are many more of us on track and we’ll be seeing lots of shiny gold stars appear on the challenge page in the coming week.
We’re into the home stretch where determination and that competitive nature kick in to drive us to the finish line. The feeling of achievement can be felt glowing just around the corner, you can almost feel it, you can almost rest and congratulate yourself on a damn fine job well done! But not yet! We must charge ahead, cheered on by those who have already succeeded. It can be done! If they can do it you can do it too!
Do you want to know a secret? Remember how quickly the first 5,000 words were to get on the page? Remember that rush of enthusiasm, excitement, adrenaline and anticipation of winning? The final 5,000 words are the same! Struggle through what you need to and get to 45,000. When you’re there 50,000 words doesn’t seem very far off at all. You’ll fly through those last few thousand words and be basking in the glory of winning before you know it!
To celebrate the inaugural Southern Cross Novel Challenge Kiwi Writers is hosting an online Thank The Stars It’s Over party! We’ll be able to celebrate for those that are finished and cheer other over the finish line. Check out the details in the TTSIO thread.
Remember that the Southern Cross Novel Challenge follows New Zealand Standard Time. After midnight on 30 June, NZST, you will no longer we able to update your progress on the challenge page. To find out what time that will be where you are try the Time Zone Converter. If you are doing SoCNoC in your local time please KiwiMail andychilton with your final word count so that he can make sure you are rewarded for your efforts.
You can see from our current winners what happens when you reach the coveted 50,000 word mark. A shiny gold star appears beside your name and you get a flashy winners icon alongside your participants icon and progress widgets that you can display with pride. In future years of SoCNoC we will have icons and a winners certificate specially designed for SoCNoC.
Keep writing & celebrating!
