SoCNoC - Week Three
Phew! We’re through Week Two and doesn’t it feel great! It’s said that it takes 14 days to form a habit and the habit of writing is hard to form and to keep. You’ve begun that journey.
3 participants have joined us during week two bringing our total to 59, almost 3 times the number of participants NaNoWriMo had in its first year. We’ve collectively written over 500,000 words and are now well set up to hit the 1 million word mark by June 30. In the next week it looks like we will have our first SoCNoC winner with morel sitting on 47,568 words and maggenpye on 40,001 words.
For those who have been keeping up with the average daily word count you will be around 25,005 words. Reaching that milestone is very motivating and each 5,000 word milestone seems just around the corner. If you haven’t been keeping up don’t panic and don’t give up! There are still 15 days and 2.5 weekends to write. Let us all make the most of that time.
After the lows of Week Two we’ve reached the other side and it’s all down hill from here! As we pass the half way point the intensity and excitement of Week One will begin to resurface. Whether you’re ahead of the game, on track or have fallen behind the run (dare I say, race) down the hill will be exciting. If you fall down, remember how fun it was to roll down a grass hill as a kid? Either way we all reach the finish line.
The klog has been going strong with guest posts from bluewaterbabe99 and morel this week. You can find advice on kick-starting your story and writing a little bit often even if you can’t write a lot. Look out for posts by maggenpye and xengab in the coming week.
Drunken Writing Night is a NaNoWriMo tradition and one we think is worth repeating. The Southern Cross Drunken Writing Night will be held on the weekend of 23 and 24 June and be announced shortly. All are welcome to log on to the SoCNoC Chat Room and enjoy the craziness of word wars and alcohol.
Just keep writing!
Update: Congratulations to morel for becoming the first SoCNoC winner in just two weeks.
