SoCNoC - Week Two
Kiwi Writers is set to kick into week two of SoCNoC with 56 participants. Welcome to those 9 participants who signed up during the first week!
We’ve clocked up over 300,000 words in a single week and it’s looking good for reaching the 1,000,000 word mark by the end of the month. You can keep track of our collective progress in the You guys rule! thread.
Entering week two there are two distinct groups of people: those who are over the required average word count of 11,667 and those who aren’t. This is great for the 21% who are over that mark. However, this gives no indication of who will reach the 50,000 word mark and who won’t. There has been many a successful dash to the finish line for people much later in the piece than entering week two.
Week two is notorious in NaNoWriMo circles as being the hardest. After the high excitement of week one the reality of writing 50,000 words in 30 days sets in. Family begins to nag for attention, housework is neglected and food begins to run low. In short: real life happens. Don’t give up and don’t panic!
Post your struggles on the forums and brace yourself for the onslaught of helpful suggestions, humour suggestions and general encouragement. This is why you are doing this with other writers. This is where the support network comes in. This is where you struggle through the tunnel and come out the other end knowing you can do this. You can write a novel.
If you need more immediate encouragement, a word war against another person rather than your kitchen timer or just a bit of a chat we now have the SoCNoC Chat Room (It’ll knock your socks off). Open 24-7 it’s their for all your writing encouragement needs.
The Klog is going strong with daily posts from the Kiwi Writers admin team with the help of guests: madscientist and cassie. bluwaterbabe99 will feature in the coming week. If you would like to contribute to the Klog KiwiMail andychilton with your post.
Go forth and write!
