Week 1 Pep Talk
Posted by: xengab
That extra encouragment needed to help you kick off your brand spanking new Southern Cross Challenge Novel.
Week 1
GO TEAM KIWI!
First off, give yourself a pat on the back for committing to the challenge.
You can do this, We are a TEAM!
Start by setting a daily word count goal.
2,000 words each day for the first week will get you on track for winning.
So repeat after me, I CAN WRITE, SO I CAN WIN!
Every challenge can be broken down into managaeble bite size pieces, like Snickers fun size bars. Easy to get through two without breaking a sweat. You did buy the required chocolate for the challenge right?
Say, I CAN WIN, then eat a chocolate.
250 word challenges, everyone can write 250 words without much trouble.
And that everyone IS going to be YOU.
Because you CAN do this. I CAN WRITE, I AM TEAM KIWI!
Every word counts, do not make the mistake of removing things you have written because you changed your mind about the plot direction.
Just make note of it and continue on, you wrote it during the challenge so it does count and is not cheating.
DO NOT PANIC! If suddenly, on day 1 you realize what you researched is not what you now wish to write about, dont sweat it.
Alot of research or fact checking can be done after the story is complete. Just highlight the areas and KEEP WRITING.
If it feels good, go with the flow.
Its 1am and your eyes are all fuzzy, the coffee is cold and you've got chocolate stuck to your cheek, welcome to the Southern Cross Novel Challenge.
GO TEAM KIWI!
(to show how easy 250 words is to write, the above Pep talk is 260 words in length. And does not count towards my daily word count)
