Why Worry?
Posted by: madscientist
Behind your expected count, well so am I.
So why worry about it, and just get writing. Now is the time to catch up, not on the 28th. Who cares about what you were going to write, which characters you were going to carefully introduce. Now together we must battle to the finish and that means getting down and dirty.
First, life - forget it. Those remaining words are your life. Take one of your characters who is now in a life or death situation and become them. If you do not make it to 50K his or her life will be over. Write how they feel. Ok, you might decide to kill them anyway, but at least make their death last a thousand words.
Second, forget plans and schedules, just write. If you cant think of how to get to the next point, put in a line (more here) then start where the next bit begins. Editing comes later. If you think of what goes in that bit then go back but do not stop the words flowing from your fingers.
Third, there is always a chance. With determination, chocolate and coffee you can write thousands of words in one night. The key is, not to stop because you are behind.
This is a challenge for all who found getting to 50K no problem, take a week off in the middle, get behind and feel the panic.
To those who got that way due to life getting in the way, do not give up. Experience it and finish. Boy will it feel great.
Now - order some pizza and get going.
Cheers,
Lesley (MadScientist)
Editor's Note: True to this klog entry (written just two days ago), madscientist has gone completely bonkers and already completed her 50,000 words! She was at 28551 words at midnight on 22nd. Wow, if that's not dedication, I don't know what is.

Ooh, Lesley, I particularly like the challenge to those who find 50K no problem. The control freak in me is crying!
