Actually writing, putting one word on the page after the other to form a story, is what makes us writers. Learning the craft of writing is what makes us better writers who write better stories.

I always find that after a month long challenge I need a few days to recuperate. This year I took longer off than I wanted to, but then sometimes thatâ€™s just the way life work out. There were things I had to get up to date: a young one to lavish attention on, course work to catch up with, housework to get done, and of course some planning for the next step on my WIP.

As a participant from the Northern Hemisphere, I have to admit to not only never accepting the National Novel Writing Month challenge (NaNoWriMo for short, or NaNo for a shorter short), but also never wanting to.

Well the month is nearing its end, and this year weâ€™ve had a fantastic turn out for SoCNoC: more than double the participants and well over double the total word count already â€“ and thatâ€™s with a few days still to go!!

I generally don't browse the web when I am writing. I have a laptop that I use to write that isn't on any network. Of course, I am missing out on a lot.
