Real Life Sucks

Actually, "Real Life" doesn't really suck, but I did get your attention.
I should refine my initial statement.
"Real Life Sucks when you want to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days (or under)."
We've all been there, we know what it's like. You have aspirations to do 2,000 words per day, which means you'll finish on the 25th June and have the final 5 days to glow in your achievement. But that's not going to happen, is it? After an initial word-count spurt, you're starting to slow down.
Instead, "Real Life" gets in the way. Someone invites you out for the evening, you have cleaning and paperwork to do, you just couldn't resist renting that great movie and other things appear from left-field that you have no idea were coming. Like having to take the cat to the vet for it's yearly worming.
But all is not lost. Even though you wanted to do 2k a day but haven't quite managed it so far, you're still not that far off the pace. And besides, this wouldn't be a novel challenge without those people getting slightly behind.
One word of advice though, the longer you leave it to catch up, the harder it is. So start now, get a few more words on the board. At least make your daily word count and as the month draws on, it'll be a hell of a lot easier.
Trust me, I wanted to be a doctor once.

Here, here!
I'm just keeping up at the moment having hit 20,000 words last night. I got home late and didn't really feel like writing. I would have done a lot less words if I didn't realise how close I was to hitting this milestone.
The next three days will likely be a write off (ha ha). Looking back I've been averaging 2500 - 3000 words each day that I do write.
