I'm going for ultimate catch up from behind today. I'm still on my Day 1 count of 1820, so looking for 6000 today.
Post your word count here today and let's see how many winners we have for Kiwi Writers first challenge! 06 Feb 2007 10:48:51

So we have one wwwW winner - madscientist. It sounds like Andy and Travis are on track. How is everyone else doing?
I'm now at 5,022 words. It's looking promising! 06 Feb 2007 16:29:00

Hi, you'll notice I haven't been posting since day one.
That's because I haven't been HOME since day one. See, this hasn't really been a 'long weekend' for me. I have worked sat, mon and today. on sunday Chris insisted that we go out, so we spent the whole lovely day in the sun at Raumati, and then yesterday someone texted me to go a bbq so i no sooner got home then turned and left again. In fact, I'm staying home from yet ANOTHER possible bbq this afternoon, for thing i'm tuckered out, and for another i would really love to improve my current word count of 1097. only 6,500 words to go... i can do it.... *looks scared and runs away* 06 Feb 2007 17:43:11

I'm on 5144 but luckily the night is still young. I've already managed something like 1100 today (at lunch and just now).

Just hit 7084... I was hoping to be done! Another half hour or so, maybe 3/4 of an hour and I will hit 7500 and about 3/4 of the story. Yes, I'm only in the 3rd quarter and the hero and villainess are calmly sitting across from each other in a Wellington Police station. It's very tense. :)

5721. Which is a bit slower recently for the exact same reason Jane just said - House is on.
Worse than that, Boston Legal is on after that!!! Ah well, means I'll have an hour and a half before midnight :-) 06 Feb 2007 21:12:14

*falls over dead*
2,670 words. I MEANT to do catch-up today, but I just had too much issues with plot and character that I can't decide what I'm writing. (I think my New Year's Resolution should've been "be more decisive") LOL. School starts tomorrow. *mournful look* So I'll be turning in for an early bedtime tonight. A BIG congrats on those who made it though -madscientist, Travis, so far. 06 Feb 2007 21:50:36 |

angeldreams, don't worry about it and have a good go next time.
As for me, I have just killed off my story at 6002 words. I didn't like it, it wasn't me. I am now scene setting for a possible short story of the future. It will be 1,500 words though it won't contain a beginning, a middle or an end, but will just describe a scene which I might develop later. I'm already on 500 words, so I'm happy with that. 06 Feb 2007 22:09:05

I did it! I'm done at 7,626 words and better than that I got the story finished. A beginning, middle and end. I've struggled through with a really, really bad headache for the last five hours. I'm really glad I forgot that House and Boston Legal were on!
Nighty night, guys and keep on typing! 06 Feb 2007 22:39:38

Well done Kerryn, you have more strength than I do - then again, this is my only TV night of the week.
I'm on 6866 and intend on finishing before midnight. See you a bit later. 06 Feb 2007 22:50:09

I'm done.
I did 6002 on the first story and 1649 on the second, giving me a total of 7651. I wish I'd started on the first story 4 days ago, but you live and learn. Now I know (or indeed have confirmed) what type of genre I like more. First Story: action, fighting, blood - and really hard to write. Second Story: Kids, sprouts, cabbage, Star Wars figures and Transformers - much, much easier and a lot funnier too. *andy wonders if there is anyone else who will post 7,500 in the next 20 mins* 06 Feb 2007 23:41:30

I didn't finish the challenge, but I do have a 3982 word (so far) story that's going well.
Andy, your second story sounds like you were writing about things that may be more familiar to you than action and fighting are. :) 07 Feb 2007 00:39:15 |

Action, blood, fighting, sounds good - you changed to what!?! :-)
I will read either, since I loved your excerpt on Nano (note, we somehow still haven't arranged a novel swap, since I'm waiting for you to finish yours - hint, hint!) :) 07 Feb 2007 12:08:17 |
