Got the 1st major edit finished off (on the 1st of the month!) and the manuscript of book 2 is out with readers. Just before I handed it over, I glanced at one of the pages and found 3 spelling errors!
Starting serious research for book 3. Still haven't done the letter or synopsis for book 1. Freaking. 03 Aug 2007 11:35:25

Ooh. That sounds so cool. No need to freak. It's only the 3rd. :)

Not freaking about the time - freaking about submission.
Putting my baby out there in the cold harsh world. I have an excellent success rate - just not with a novel, so it's all new and scary all over again. 03 Aug 2007 14:07:17

Well we are all here to support you. It's definitely a scary thing! So it's ok to feel all sorts of things about it. Have you got your query letter all sorted?

Nope.
I know what kind of box to send the manuscript in, though! I have the name and address to send it to and copies of sample letters and synopses. I've written thousands of words, and they are all the opening sentence. Over and over again. It's stage fright, but there's no Emcee to do the introduction so that I have to perform. 03 Aug 2007 21:09:16

Feel free to kiwi mail your attempts, I'm happy to give my uneducated opinion on which one I makes me most want to read your story.

I am feeling for you maggenpye!
It is sooo hard sending things out for cruel strangers to look over and then say if they want to have it or not. A dingo has stolen my baby! LOL Deep breaths, the worsed thing they can say is no and thats THIER loss. 04 Aug 2007 03:53:06

Wow. Good luck! I sympathize. Seeing a novel of mine go out into the cold hard world spooks me too. As xengab said, take deep breaths. We're here with you. :)

Oh! He he, sleepy brain at it again.
It is scary! It sounds like you're all prepared though, you just have to take that jump. Remember: it's always worse thinking about it than actually doing it! 04 Aug 2007 22:04:59 |

Just do it! Once it is out of your hands its best. My hand shook when I handed it over to the postman (well lady).
I now have so much nervous energy the kitchen will finally get scrubbed down! SO do it! Good Luck, End is Nigh 05 Aug 2007 06:12:14

Well if ya need more, my place could do with a complete dust bunny round up.
My cats are shedding like the world is going end tomorrow so its like tumbleweed season in my apartment! BUT I do love cleaning when I have an idea in my head and want to be left alone to think it over. I've been known to scrub floors or tables so the repeditive action helps me plot the story. 06 Aug 2007 05:27:32

Well done Maggenpye! Sending anything out is always agonising. I went for a long drive the first time I sent a manuscript off.
You can ignore my advice if you want, but I suggest you take your time writing the synopsis and query letter - they're so important, and the area I always let myself down with. I get that 'must get this posted' fever and always regret it later. Don't you think this EIN challenge has been a great motivator? It is for me. 06 Aug 2007 08:50:07 Quote:

Yeah, I think so far that the response to this challenge is already quite impressive. I see everyone around me doing stuff and I'm yet to start - cripes! I guess I'll soon get embarassed into starting :-)
Way to go maggenpye, you're going great guns. 06 Aug 2007 22:14:44
