I've only set myself one task for this challenge, and that is to complete a short story I began writing a very long time ago.
It's titled Dream Dark, Dream Deadly, and is currently sitting at 1,420 words.
Today I opened the document! And I plan on beginning the hard task of restarting something thats not been touched in a long time.... ah the fun.
I love the story idea though, and am looking forward to seeing it finally completed.
I only chose one thing because I have several big assignments due this month and I didn't want to set myself up to fail. If I can fit something else in I definitely will.

I love the title. I have title envy. :) What is it about?

How many words do you think you'll need to finish it? Will you edit too?

With all you've got on I think the one thing is great.

I'm thinking it might hit about 10K. But at this point it's really hard to say - I'm not a very good judge of length! lol
I'll edit it if I have time, but that would certainly count as thing 2 i think ;-)
The story is a horror of sorts about a young boy who is given a game card that's not just a game card at all! He'll soon learn where it's real power lies, and it won't be that pretty hehehehhehe....

Ooh, that sounds good. Editing would definately Thing 2 and 10K in a month would be a great achievement.

I have to say, I love the title too! And the little blurb you gave about the story sounds very interesting.

It's smart to stick to one thing. No need to overwhelm yourself and you can pour more effort into the things that need doing. ^_^

Thanks guys :-)
Gonna get into some writing today I think. I need a break from study badly.
Found out yesterday that they changed the rules on me and now I won't be able to go into the field I wanted to. Change of plans! Little down about it, but I should keep in mind there are plenty of other options, and it should give me more time to focus on my writing in the coming year. Which is a good thing, a very good thing.

I agree with Kerryn some times not getting what we thought is better in the long run.
I got laid off at work two years back, no money for the library to stay open, yada yada ya. So I found a new job at another library system, BEST thing I ever did. I love my job, love most of my coworkers and now have a new building to work in (rather then the old morgue we used to work at. seriously it was a morgue 20 years ago).
What I wanted to do in life was social work, I did the training just not the end exam and well I just know that would have been a big mistake since I cry watching Oprah..LOL
But that training is now helping me alot with my writing.
Nothing learned is ever a waste!
Plus having time to focus on writing is the best thing ever..I could be bias .

Good Luck, End is Nigh

There's a story in that xengab! A library that used to be a morgue.

Good luck Cassie, hope you're able to concentrate through the 'change of field'. As the others say, everything always works out in the end. That's pretty much how I live my life, even though some of the bad things.

And hey, I wouldn't be right here, right now, if it hadn't all worked out the way it did.

Yeah, you are all right, and I've already turned my thinking around. Things are looking pretty great right now :-)
Still, lol not helping me focus on the writing ;-)

I wish I could write about my work place, but sadly it would seem to unreal for most..LOL plus my coworkers know I write and have asked to be excluded from any and all stories.

Not progressing very far. Nothing is making much sense at the moment.
I DID re-obtain my required writing mucis though, so for when my head is alright again I'll be ready to go.
Little one just about knocked me out last night playing a game and I have some lovely painkillers to take away the nastiness my head is feeling, it's just not very helpful for trying to focus on anything much for more than a couple minutes at a time.

Hope you are feeling better. :)

haha yeah. I am feeling mostly better today, and have even managed to get some writing done!!! I'm planning on doing a little more before getting into assignment writing.
The worst bit is that I can't seem to follow a train of thought all the way through... now what was I saying? lol

Great work to get anything done with injuries! (If only they had some kind of commendation for writers battling against fatigue/mortal wounds/bashed heads.)
How dedicated can you be?
As for the whole train of thought thing, coherency is overrated anyway :)

I decided to add it to the list of things I was doing this month and now I can feel good because I FINISHED something woohooo!!!
Now to catch up on the rest of the study thats slid because I was assignment writing, and next week, onto writing my other assignment due at the end of the month...
So let me add that one as well, and also add finish doing the research for the assignment due in the first week of september, omg it's almost september!

You are going well cassie. Those darn assignments seem to come at ya this time of year. I was going through all that last year, and I might skite my written assignments were the best in class, including presenting them to class.
Funny in a perverse way I miss doing them this year. :)
