Right, it's time to get some of these things off my desk and free myself up to work on new and exciting projects, safe in the knowledge that I can finish things!!
I mainly write for children, so my word
count isn't huge, but to me it's still a mountain and I am excellent at procrastination.
Here's what I shall do my best to achieve over the remaining two weeks of this challenge...

1)Complete a first draft of my chapter book, which is currently just a planned plot and some sketchy scribblings.
2)Edit and send at least one picture book to publishers.
3)Develop and complete a new picture book.
4)Revisit and extend my junior novel, currently sitting at 7,500 words out of an expected 25-30,000. Hmm, I thought I was closer than this, maybe this one is unlikely to be done in the next two weeks?
5)And if I have any time left over, I shall update my blog!

I'm certainly not short of ideas and I find it easy starting stories, it's the seeing it through and finishing that I lack! I'm hoping that posting this here will give me a goal and the kick up the behind I need! :-)

Well, after deciding to do this finishing challenge, my best intentions were waylaid by a busy weekend and little progress in my targets.
I have admittedly procrastinated a bit, I know there isn't really time for it, but I'm a natural.
I've distracted myself by extending this finishing theme, into a kind of 'Tidy Up Time' with paperwork, clutter and to do lists aplenty, but all the things I've been meaning to do for ages are actually getting done! I just need to keep a balance and still more forwards with the writing targets.
With 10 days to go I reckon I can do at least four of the planned missions if I get my head into it an knuckle down.
I've nearly finished the picture book to send and I'm playing with my sketchy ideas and developing them into a chapter book, so there is progress here :-)

Thanks Kerrynangell, I'm not sure how to get the blog link into my signature, but here it is anyway - it's a new one and admittedly needs a wee bit more direction and focus, but feel free to let me know what you think anyway :-)

Hey it's great you are making progress :-) It's definitely a good month for tidying things up even if some of those things aren't writing related, it'll probably help you have more time for writing some other time anyways!

The tidying mission is in full swing and my to-do lists are getting done! yay!
I am also happy to report that the first chapter of my junior chapter book has been written.
Okay, so I'm not quite up there with all your impressive word counts, but it was satisfying at 723! (I've gotta start somewhere and I am writing for children, so short is good!) I've been getting loads of ideas for possible spins offs as well. I'm feeling really good about the story and looking forward to finding out what happens next!
So here I go...

Whoo, go you! Your word count is still really good. :) It's important for everyone to go at their own pace, after all. Keep up the great work!

Well, it's a busy week and I have hardly been near the internet at all to update you on my progress, so here's how I got on with my finishing mission...

1)The chapter book is written! Although the word count is unclear as I did it the old fashioned pen and paper way. I'm happy with it though and I think it is a good first draft. I also have plenty of follow on ideas - so one down!
2)The picture book is edited and ready to send tomorrow - another one complete!
3)I wrote a new picture book, although it is still in draft stage, but I think it counts as an achievement.
As for the final two challenges I didn't get around two them, but I am pleased with my 3 out of 5 success.

Oh, and I also recieved two rejections this weekend - go me! :-)

well done! 3/5 is certainly a good achievement and it sounds like it's spurred you on in that you have even more ideas now :-) always a good thing! keep at it.
