HI, just found this website and it sounds really cool and the sort of thing I'd enjoy. Do you just have to pick a genre or are there any rules about the plot and what has to happen in terms of guidelines?
Thanks, Mel 06 Jun 2007 12:49:13 |

General guidelines are 50K new words this month. Some people are writing on a novel they had already started, and others are writing on completely new novels.
As long as its your own idea, and your own writing you're set :-) The genre and any plot details are totally open to you, so pick something that interests you/drives you and start writing! If you need help with anything just start a new post and people are bound to give you suggestions/encouragement, everyone is really wonderful! It's great to have you on board. 06 Jun 2007 12:56:37 |

thegreatchallenge, really glad to have you around - and I like your name by the way. I presume you're meaning that SoCNoC is a great challenge rather than you yourself being the great challenge :-)
Anyway, welcome aboard and as Cassie said, you're pretty much only limited by your imagination - so anything is possible! 06 Jun 2007 13:10:53

Hiya Mel,
There's no rules about plot or genre - do whatever you like! :) The goal is purely to get 50,000 words down on your story by the end of the month. 07 Jun 2007 15:09:31

thegreatchallenge, I say strive to make your own genre! ;-)
That's funny, coming from someone so solidly stuck in 1 (sci-fi). Nah - no real rules except write to 50,000 words before June 30th at midnight! It is exciting and make sure you savour in the triumph of each finished chapter! 07 Jun 2007 23:32:41 |
