And I have 9 days to go.

Eeep!

But I've done 5K tonight. I have no idea whether this is going to work, I have no outlines or anything.

I'm screwed, aren't I?

no!! you are definitely not screwed lol it's a great chance to get writing as much as you can - and will be a really good challenge to see just how much you can do when you set your mind to it.
And hey, if you make even 25K you're doing amazingly for starting so late in the month! Good on you.

hehe, we'll see how it goes. I always manage to join these things way too late. But I'm determined to get to 50K, even if I don't sleep for the rest of the month!

Don't worry wwed, you won't be the only one cranking out masses of words in a hurry. I'm not yet half way, and have every intention of winning. You will do great! :)

Yeah, don't feel too bad, I started out really well, and I haven't written now for probably a week and a half, but I'm still into it. Do your best!!

Just keep on writing. No matter what your total is at the end, you'll be ahead in experience as a writer.

Hi Wwed, I have just joined in too!

I looked at my log, and I have actually achieved 32k already this month so I thought I may as well jump on the bandwagon.

If I can do it, so can you! :o)

With determination like that I know you'll do it, wwed! And everyone else that's determined to reach 50K.

I'm constantly amazed by what I can do and what others can do when we put our minds to something.

Go Team Kiwi!

I'm doubly determined to succeed in this one after failing NaNo so miserably.

Although I ran out of steam after 2.5K today, and I have to do 5.5K a day in order to finish.

How on earth do professional writers write 5K a day? It's not that I don't have time to write some more, it's just so hard to bring myself to write it, which is weird because I love writing. I seem to have some sort of mental block.

Maybe your story has got to a place, or is heading in a direction that it shouldn't be. Maybe you could take it in a different direction or start quizzing your characters?

If you keep that determination out weighing your common sense I'm sure you'll be fine!

You could always enter our 6K in 24 hours and 7K in a 7 hours challenges to urge you on.

Not to worry, last year I had to go away for a whole week and I still finished 5 days early. There is nothing like extreme panic and determination to get you there. Don't worry about plot - if you get stuck write a later chapter and come back. Editing is for next month.
I will be cheering you on - keep going.

I decided to spend most of today on characterisation and plotting(seeing as I had no plot at all), so apart from a couple of character sketches I haven't got many words done, but I think it'll make things easier for the rest of the days. And also I've discovered that I'm going to have to cut a thousand word scene when June is over, but as madscientist said, editing is for next month!

I think I'm really going to need those challenges kerrynangell.

Thanks for the support guys!

wwed,

SoCNoC is just an arbitrary dividing line. You can write a novel any time.

So, it's very cool, even late with not much chance to finish. BUT, you can finish your novel whenever you like. :)

You guys are so supportive - it's amazing!

That's true, cottreau. But I work best to uber crazy deadlines. And there's something about the camaraderie that makes it easier to write as well.
Although by the looks of things, Kiwi is better than NaNo at offering all year support. So depending on how far off I am on 29th June, I may take you up on writing a novel some other time!

There is another challenge on next month to write an extra 20K on the novel you started in June (its in the member challenges section) just in case you don't get it all done this month ;-)
I think you are doing so well though! Definitely well on your way to achieving your goal of 50K this month. Keep at it!
We do aim at year round support, so keep an eye out on the site challenges and the member challenges as well, or post one of your own sometime! You never know when something it going to pop up that you'll feel like attempting.

well, that's really not fair...

Just came back from hospital...
And June is long, long, long gone...

Ah well, never mind, there's plenty of other writing challenges I can have a go at.

Heya, you can always keep going this month with the Don't Stop! Challenge, you'll find it in the member's forums :-) Might be a good way to carry on with the story.
Out of hospital? I hope you're ok?
