You guys are awesome. That's just fantastic. Some of us (who have pretty much only just started) are very jealous.

See you at the finish line :-)

(Or as Joey said to Chandler one time: "You're so far over the line, it's almost a dot to you.")

Hairy Mike and the Supersonics??????
At least you have a title for your story andy. I had tried two and ditched them back to SoCNoC,08.

Yes, where did wildboy come from? Been wondering if somebody is playing games.

No need for anybody not near the finish line to fret. We've got plenty of time. And it's not a race against each other unless we wish to make it one. I admit that seeing other people's numbers spurs me to push on, but not because I want to beat their numbers. Because I want to keep up. At this point in a novel, one begins to have doubts. The challenge helps me to continue despite them.

And since there are hardly any novels published that are only 50,000 words except Harlequin (Mills & Boon) short romances, this kind of challenge is always more about getting a substantial portion of a novel written than about actually writing the entire thing.

So congrats to the winners, and let's all keep going.

I agree it is not a race, we are all winners that reach the required number. Different people have certain amounts of time and other committments. I am not normally competitive, but I must admit, I have been motivated by just keeping up with kiwi counterparts, just to keep the flag flying. :)

I don't think of myself as competitive, either. Wasn't raised that way. I was raised to excel and often have fallen down on the job.

I always think of writing skills as like a timeline. Some people start farther along it because they start as better writers than others. But I believe we each still have the same distance to travel. Basically because there is always room for improvement and every creative person needs to grow.

Yay! crossed the line this afternoon, several days ahead of schedule :-) but that means there is still plenty of time left in the month to actually finish the story off :-)
Looking forward to seeing the rest of you over the 50k mark in the next week or so!

I won't be long behind probably tomorrow as out tonight. So you are still going on with your novel. Whoop-de-do, mine finishes at 50,000. :)

Ooh, I love how you put that but I'd say...

"Up here in the stars."

One of my favourites quotes is: 'Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will land among the stars'.
