So it's almost here, SoCNoC is almost over which for me means I'll be getting back into the editing and working as hard as I can to get this done.
Where is everyone else at? We've got a few new people sign up the challenge so it'll be great to keep track of where everyone is at with this :-) 28 Jun 2008 10:19:30 |

Well, i'm writing up my novel slowly on the computer, over 17000 words so far and i think its going to be a big one... Its written longhand in over 5 spiral bound books, very messy. How many people write their books from beginning to end? I'm still not sure where the beginning is, though I have a deffinite end. Just finished the middle...How many people write like this?

Angel,
Alot of writers still write by hand, I tend to do this at work and then type it up at night time. I know all the Harry Potter books were written by hand and then typed up. There is something different about writing by hand compared to writing on a computer. I cant write with a pen just feels wrong so I use a pencil either regular or mechanical. 30 Jun 2008 03:28:10
My idea of hell is being trapped in a room with no books!

Wow, that sounds like a lot of hand writing! I always find the writing process quite different when I am doing it with a pen rather than straight onto the computer.
That said, I just can't write that much by hand. I do a lot of my outlining by hand, jotting notes etc on paper rather than making a file on the computer, not sure why though. 30 Jun 2008 08:25:09 |

I have to write at a computer now. After years of typing, my penmanship has deteriorated to the point where I look like I'm filling out a prescription...

hey same here ghwriter, and you can delete without it looking so messy, in saying that I would think the words would somehow flow better handwritten. Then I'd be concerned I never get around to typing it up.

Ok. No one ever said that wasn't ambitious...

Sounds like everyone has different ideas on what works best for them! Interesting to hear how everyone else writes! As for my goal setting, just to get this thing down on computer in some sort of order will be challenge enough for now, though I need to be doing more each day. I guess I have similar commitments to others out there with childrens soccer/netball, school picnics/meetings/interviews, friend and family going-ons.....Hard to find time for it all. But I love writing! I'm looking forward to having some space in my head to think up another book! so I guess that means finishing this one...
Enough rambling! I've only written up 500 or so words today, so I'd better go and do some more! 06 Jul 2008 20:37:09 |

And while I'm here...can anyone spare a few ticks and have a read of one of my poems under the critique topic below? I would really love some mmore feedback! I'm pretty new to poetry....and it's not very long! Look in 'Baring my soul'. Thanks!

I now write on an Asus Eee, which is perhaps the ultimate writers tech tool. It boots in just under 10 secs and it ultra small, light and durable. And only 500 bucks to boot. Of course, the keyboard is small ...
I'm doing well in this challenge, but feel like I'm cheating. I had a novel written at the start of the challenge, and at the moment I'm doing another edit to chop it down to 60k, as per instruction from one publisher. 11 Jul 2008 23:09:42 |
