We have recently formed a group for writers, and we need a name. The meeting next week will discuss this.
As we live in the Southern part of NZ, Invercargill is the city area, but Southland is made up of a lot of rural towns. Therefore I feel Invercargill in the name may discourage people from outside the city.
'Southern Writers Group'' is about as creative as I can get, my husband came up with Southern Scribes' which I like. We already have a Southern Poetry group which we broke away from as we are more story tellers.
Anyone having some ideas, would be appreciated.

I really like Southern Scribes, I think it covers quite a range of possibilities, and has a nice ring to it.
Am a bit worn out today to think of anything myself tho...

Southern Scribes is good. Alliteration works!

The group I'm in seems to be 98% poets. Oh well.

Southern Scribes - Writers helping Writers is out name, it has been decided.
We had a guest author last night, and we critiqued each others pieces, quite good getting feed back. Next meeting this author will be doing a how-to-workshop on getting your work suitable for publication, good writing grammer and basic writing principles.
If anyone is interested, next meeting is 30th July, upstairs at the Invercargill Library.

Deb Brammer is the author's name, she is American and has had stories published about an American living in other countries.
She has an article in the Southland Express tomorrow.
The group were a bit concerned about being called a 'chapter' as one of our gangs are named that down here Kerryn.

Oh, damn. I like Southern Scribes, though! I'm so excited we helped you start writing and now you have your own writers group! :)
