The Rules
Well, yes. But submitting is often a daunting prospect, and those rejections can really hit you hard. So let's make them something to celebrate.
Or say you've been submitting work for some time, even had some acceptances. But you're sticking to "safe" markets, those you know well with a high acceptance rate, small, non-paying e-zines. Well there's nothing wrong with that, but it might be time for you to venture out of your comfort zone a little. And how much easier to do it
And who knows - in amongst those rejections you might just find some acceptances from places you thought beyond your reach.
1) You know when you're cheating. Obviously if you send your work in complete disregard of the submission guidelines (word count, genre etc) or don't proofread then that's clearly a really bad idea. But if you just think a market is out of your league - go for it! That's what the challenge is all about.
2) Any type of writing counts, but the number is aimed at those writing articles, poetry or short fiction. Feel free to treat the target as arbitrary - set yourself a figure or challenge a friend to see who can get the most.
3) It's up to you what you count as a rejection - not being placed in a competition could be considered rejection. Just get your work out there and see what happens.
