Get Ready. Get Set. Let's Go!

Hello Kiwi Writer,

We’re just hours away from the beginning of the fourth Southern Cross Novel Challenge and its companion, the second Half Novel Challenge. We hope you’re ready for a whirlwind month and we’ve got some last minute surprises to start the show!

It’s been a request for a while and is particularly useful during SoCNoC for word wars and write-ins. You guessed it! We've got our very own chatrooms hosted here at Kiwi Writers. You don't need to know another password or install any plug in it’s right here. You’ll find a General chat that you can pop into anytime to catch up with other participants. There’s also a Word Wars chat where xengab will be hosting word wars on a semi-regular basis but it’s also where you can conduct your own word wars whenever you need a boost to your word count. Enjoy and we’d love to hear your feedback. You can contact us, as always, from our contact page.

We’ve got some fantastic new banner ads created by jayztar that you might find featured on sites such as the NZ Woman’s Weekly book section, The Listener Arts, Music & Books section and Info News NZ Books page. A huge thanks to jayztar and Adhub for the advertising. You can also feature them on your blog or website by downloading them here in all their shiny blue, moving glory.

If all of that wasn’t enough try these top 5 tips to stay connected during SoCNoC.

  1. Show off your participation in this greatest of novelling events with participant icons to share on blogs, websites and forums.
  2. Follow the progress of your fellow participants on their blogs and the growing SoCNoC blogroll.
  3. We’re tweeting all the site updates and holding some spontaneous word wars over twitter so make sure to follow us.
  4. We’re on facebook too so if Twitter’s not your thing you can still get updates right to your friends feed.
  5. Subscribe to the Kiwi Writers blog for your daily dose of tips, tricks, commiseration and encouragement.

You’ve joined us, you’re ready, now let’s go!
