Question
A word war is when you set a time limit and try to write as much as you can within that time limit. You can do one by yourself, but it's more fun to compete with other people. :D
Yeah it can be heaps of fun when you get a group of writers doing it! Can help push you to write more in a space of time because you're focusing and ah... maybe trying to beat other people
I first came across them in NaNoWriMo one year, but have used them in SoCNoC and other times when trying to get good word counts out every day.
Another form has been the Round Robin Word War. You do it with multiple people. At the beginning of each "round" someone gives a prompt (usually single words since the timer doesn't stop) and you incorporate it into your story. When you reach the end of the writing phase (generally after everyone has given one prompt) the total wordcount is tallied and the winner has the most words.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but... I'm around a hundred pages into a contemporary urban vampire story involving gang rivalry, prostitutes turned vampire and out for revenge, and a woman with Asperger's who gets caught up in it all, and I've come to a full stop. I'm no longer sure where I'm going with it. I suspect I need to 'talk' it over with someone, as that's how I tend to think best, but I don't have anyone in my immediate environment to do this with. Would anyone here be willing to read what I've got so far, and comment on it? Or even just bat a few ideas around? I'd be grateful for any comments.
Hi Lilar. I've moved this request to the Critique & Review forum here: http://kiwiwriters.org/content/forum/299.

Oh cool, thanks for answering my question you two!
