Fantasy Madness - 1st to 10th September
Sounds fun. Fantasy is one of my normal areas, so I've got a few unused ideas floating around.
Might do the frog princess. Never ran with it originally because disney started showing shorts for a similar movie almost the day after I wrote down the original concept.
Or I could look at the dark elves... Was trying for the point of view of the bad guys.
I'm definitely considering this one. A few of my started short stories from Merrilee's Creativity Workshop are fantasy. I've written very little in the genre for a long time and it's one I love.
What was I considering really? I'm in!!
This is EXACTLY the challenge I needed. I need to do more work on my #SoCNoC novel, How NOT to be a Princess, so this is the perfect opportunity to actually get some words written =D And since it definitely comes under fantasy (it even has a dragon - my first one!) it's a perfect fit for this challenge.
Fantasty and sci-fi are my main genres so I'm in. I do have a couple of unused high fantasy (the far far away kind of fantasy with dragons, knights and wizards) ideas I could use. Of course this means deciding what to write and having some plan.
@WritersBlockNZ, I too am loving the title of your novel!
I've instituted The Writing Hour for myself and the first day today has been very successful. I shuffled through five speculative fiction ideas from the Creativity Workshop and have settled comfortably on the first one I came up with. I've just finished reading through the existing 2000-ish words and I love the concept, the description and my main character. It could evolve into a novel but I'm trying to keep it short. A 10K limit might just be perfect, though I doubt I'll reach that figure by the 10th September!
Adeana, a reluctant enchantress, must condemn herself to a solitary life for her village, friends and family to survive.
It's my first story that has a real central conflict and setting built around magic. It's a simple enough little world, nothing epic or political, but it's deeply personal to the characters there. I'm excited to see what more I can make of this.
And two more days of The Writing Hour have me at 2,168 words. I'm thrilled!
How is everyone else doing?
Unfortunately my challenge hasn't gone so well.
The story I had started lost steam... after two paragraphs. So I've turned back to my urban fantasy work on progress. In today's writing class I'm going to give fantasy another shot.

my #SoCNoC novel, How NOT to be a Princess,
I am so loving the title of your story!
