Heartland 1000 Short Story Competition
Run by Taumarunui Writers Group with a new prize format this year. Max. 1000 words. Closing date 30th September 2010.
$1000 in prizes: First $500; 2nd $250, plus a new prize of $250 for the best story from a Ruapehu-based writer. For the past six years TWG has successfully organised this nationwide short story competition with the help of Creative New Zealand. This year the judge is award-winning novelist William Taylor, who has recently published a stunning autobiography, Telling Tales: a Life in Writing (HarperCollins, $35.)
