Spec Fic NZ blogging week

Welcome to this years  SpecFic NZ Blogging week.

Short and sweet OR Long and flowery.

Style, we all have one. But can it be changed?

What would it take to change your writing style?

Critical reviews, What now?

When you publish anything either in ebook, book form or blog you will get reviews. They can be good, bad or downright ugly.

So what can you do to stay sane?

Runaway Novel

Runaway Novel

So we've rounded the halfway mark for SoCNoC.  Some of us will be nearing the top of the 25k mountain (12.5 for HalfNoc folks) and be barrelling towards 50k.  Others will still be climbing upwards, a little behind, but hopefully still determined to make it!

Suddenly there are zombies

Speaking for myself, it's usually at this point in the challenge – when we're just past the half way mark – that things tend to go a little crazy for me. If I have an outline, I will start to wander off track. Maybe a new character waltzes in and decides to take over; maybe my current characters decide that the plot is too boring, so they throw in a couple of explosions; or maybe they get themselves kidnapped by a random villain and then suddenly there are zombies involved and oh crap, what did I just write?

What to do in week two.

Week two.  The enthusiasm of week one is wearing off, and you haven't hit the week three slump yet.  Week two is where the magic happens.  Now that you're on a roll, and you've hopefully have some kind of writing routine underway, this 50k goal seems a little bit more in reach.
